17 DAYS in Nepal
|
The circuit of the Annapurna is one of the great hikes in Nepal as it passes through a variety of Himalayan environments. The trek begins in the lush Marsyangdi Valley, home to the Hindu farming families of Brahmin, Chhetri and Gurung tribes, and enters the dry, arid region of Manang inhabited by Buddhist Manangis of Tibetan origin. It also reveals some of the most beautiful mountains like Annapurna II (7,937m/26,033ft), Gangapurna (7,454m/24,449ft) and Tilicho Peak (7,135m/23,403ft). This trip provides the experience of both the scenic and ethnic diversity of Nepal with the added excitement of crossing Thorung Pass (5,416m/17,764ft – high but technically easy). Then to descend and hike through the world’s deepest gorge ‘The Kali Gandaki’, which splits the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna massifs towering 6,000m/20,000ft above.
