Ladakh situated at the western end of the Tibetan plateau and is often referred to as ‘Little Tibet’. It is still one of the best places to experience the unique culture of the high Himalaya.
The Markha Valley is by far one of the most beautiful valleys in Ladakh and a popular destination due to its proximity of its whole circuit to Leh. A varied trek across high passes with tremendous views of the snow capped mountains, gorges, arid landscape dotted with villages with their colorful fields of mustard and barley. These attractions make this trip a trekker’s delight to see its countryside as well as meeting with the locals and getting a good cultural insight.
GRADE C (Moderate to Strenuous) :
This trek is for the more serious hill walker. It involves walking at medium to high elevation so a higher level of physical fitness and stamina is required.

Fly to Leh (3,521m)
Acclimatising day. Day hike to Leh Palace and Shankar village
Drive to Spituk and trek to Yurutse (4,150 m) along the bank of Indus River
Cross Granda La pass (4,850 m) and trek to Skiu
Trek to Markha village
Trek to Thachungtse via Hanker village and to Nimaling
Trek to Sumdo crossing Kongmaru La pass (5,150m)
Hike to Hemis Monastery (3,505 m) and drive to Leh visiting Thiksey and Shey en route.
Fly to Delhi
Free day in Delhi. Late evening transfer to airport for homeward bound flight
